Things are up and moving here at the MVHS Library!

1) Did you know the library has a scrapbooking station with old magazines and illustrations? Senior Andella Bourgoin made good use of it for her very unique and creative binder labels :)

2) I figured I'd let the students get settled for the first two weeks before I set out the first puzzle, but they started one all on their own. They're making good progress!

3) Student and staff's favorite summer reads! Our first whiteboard question of the year got a lot of answers. What was your favorite summer read?

Table gaming club is for educators, too!

Mr. Vining and Mrs. Monsalve are hard at work on the current puzzle, which is proving to be a real doozy. Our new puzzle piece sorting trays were donated by Mrs. Glover!

Not pictured: our Dungeons & Dragons adventuring party joking around so much they aren't getting much "actual questing" done. All part of the game!

This morning a small colony of 12 bookworms made their way into our fiction section. They were attracted by the smell of books that hadn't been checked out in a few years. This can sometimes happen to libraries at the very beginning of April...

Students brave enough to check out a Bookworm Book to save the library will be rewarded with a custom button celebrating their heroism! πŸͺ±πŸ“˜

Happy April 1st! πŸ˜‰

The gradient puzzle being too easy for our expert puzzlers didn't sit right with me. I had to make sure they had a real challenge. Then, a video from Simone Giertz showed up on my YouTube feed advertising a perfect solution: a puzzle made of almost entirely edge pieces!

This community puzzle has been going for a week now and has been truly challenging our puzzlers. It's been fun to watch them work together and celebrate each piece found. Hopefully the forecasts will catch up soon to its theme "Summer Day on the River." In the meantime, there's nothing cozier than a puzzle on a cold day. πŸ§©πŸ¦…

ALSO IN THE LIBRARY: Saw and loved Project Hail Mary this weekend? Check out the book from the library to see what didn't make the screen! πŸš€πŸ‘¨β€πŸš€πŸ’™πŸͺ¨πŸŒž

This year's eligible book-chelor's are ready to go on their dates! Students can come check out these books blind based on the intro card on the cover. πŸ’Œ ❀️ 🌹

Students are also invited to come take a limited edition Valentine's Day 1" button from the circulation desk when they check out a book! ❀️ πŸ“–

Well, this is when I was planning to post that the new challenge puzzle was on it's way, but...the students already finished it. They're just too good! The puzzle will be on display for the rest of the week before we move on to the next one :)

Our puzzling presents were opened this morning! This year's challenge puzzle is the 1,000 piece gradient requested specifically by both Calvin ('29) and Ellena ('25) Hogancamp (pictured).

We've got a daunting task ahead of us, but once that's done there's a normal, cozy book-themed puzzle, opened by Whyatt Perham ('25).

There's lots to look forward to in the New Year, but in the meantime I hope you all enjoy your holiday parties and gatherings over break. Maybe even you'll also find time to cozy up with a good book!

Mr. Aylward said he wants the Super Mega Crossword done before winter break, so we had to call in reinforcements. Luckily, George Donahue ('25) is home from college and was up to the task! πŸ¦…
