Bob Thomas has been at the Michigan Chamber of Commerce for almost 30 years. When asked what keeps him there, his answer was about the business owner who can't leave the floor to sit in a six-hour committee hearing. Bob and his team are in that room so you don't have to be.
We talked about what the chamber actually does versus what most people assume it does. We got into the 3-3-1 morning practice that keeps him focused on what matters most. And we had an honest conversation about letting go of the vine… what life looks like when you stop holding everything yourself.

Been holding onto this conversation, and I’m excited to finally share it.
Rich Homberg joined me on Viva La Visionary and it turned into one of those conversations I kept thinking about after we wrapped. Rich is the President and CEO of Detroit PBS. He's been there 18 years. But the path to that seat was anything but straight.
We talked about getting fired at 33 while running sales for one of the biggest radio stations in the country, what that forced him to figure out about himself, and how hiring a life coach at 50 changed the way he leads. We also got into what it actually looks like to be a visionary who learns to get out of his own team's way.
That last part hit close to home for me.
