An incredible honor for an exceptional scholar.

Congratulations to Troy Turner on being named a CURO Honors Scholar for the University of Georgia’s Morehead Honors College, the university’s highest undergraduate research award.

Troy is one of just eight incoming students named a CURO Honors Scholar for the Class of 2030, and the only honoree representing the humanities.

Through the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO), this award will fund Troy’s research over the next four years, supporting research, travel expenses, conferences, symposiums, on-site visits abroad, and so much more.

Troy plans to pursue International Affairs and Russian through the Russian Flagship Program, building on his current humanities capstone research project at Fellowship. With a career goal in foreign service/diplomacy in Eastern Europe, it goes without saying how proud we are of his accomplishments thus far!

Troy’s journey began here through his capstone research, and we can’t wait to see how his work continues to shape the world.

We look forward to his upcoming senior thesis presentation:
“Balancing Sovereignty and Minority Rights: A Comparative Analysis of Baltic State Policies Toward Russia and Ethnic Russian Minorities within their Territories.”

Please join us in celebrating Troy and this outstanding achievement.

At Fellowship Christian School, our faculty and staff don’t just inspire students in the classroom; they also create, write, and lead through the power of story.

March is National Reading Month, and today we’re excited to spotlight James Lester, Middle School English Teacher, and his published work, Corn Flower: A Girl of the Great Plains
Book Description:
Eleven-year-old Corn Flower is a member of the Kansa tribe living along the Cottonwood River in the 1820’s, where she tends her family’s herd of goats and finds adventure in the activities and challenges of life on the Great Plains.

Much like children in our modern culture, Corn Flower cherishes the love, devotion, and closeness of her family as well as friendship with her best friend as they go on an endless quest for adventure.

Intended Audience:
Middle Readers, Grades 3-5

What inspired you to write this book?
I grew up in Kansas and always loved the adventure of life, playing in wheat fields and finding adventure with my best friend.

How does your work as an author connect to your role at Fellowship?
A class set of the books is used by Ms. Cervantes in the Fellowship 3rd-grade classroom.

Special Note:
There are five Corn Flower books in the series.

Thank you, Dr. Lester, for sharing your work with the world!

Congratulations to senior Ansley Richards on winning the GHSA Literary State Championship in Argumentative Essay!

In this highly competitive event, students are given three contemporary topics to choose from and just one hour to craft their response before a panel of judges.

Ansley rose to the challenge, earning first place with her response on who should bear greater responsibility for the spread of online misinformation - government or technology companies.

We are so proud of her critical thinking and excellence in representing Fellowship.

Well done, Ansley!

Congratulations to sophomore Emma Leibowitz, who was named a finalist and invited to be a part of the Governor’s Honors Program this summer!

Selected from thousands of applicants across the state, finalists for the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) participate in a premier residential experience that transcends the standard classroom.

The program fosters advanced academic and cultural growth, preparing Georgia’s top students to lead in an increasingly complex and global society.

Emma was accepted in the area of theater. Emma has performed in a variety of roles on stage at Fellowship, playing Sharpay in High School Musical as a Freshman, and will be Ella, the lead role in Cinderella this Spring as a Sophomore.

In the fall One-Act competition, Emma delivered a compelling performance as Trish, the town handyman and voice of wisdom, in One Stoplight Town. Her nuanced portrayal earned her the prestigious All-Star Cast Award, recognizing her ability to bring depth and authenticity to the stage.

She has also competed in the GHSA Literary Competition for two years as a Soloist and as part of a girls’ trio. She is currently the Chaplain of our school’s International Thespian Society troupe.

Congratulations, Emma, for your well-deserved recognition by the Governor’s Honors Program.

At Fellowship Christian School, our faculty and staff don’t just inspire students in the classroom; they also create, write, and lead through the power of story.

March is National Reading Month, and today we’re excited to spotlight Karen E.B. Elliot, High School English Faculty, and her published work, Finding Your Faith in Literature: Why Some of the Greatest Stories are Relevant, Personal, and Transformative.

Book Description:
In an era where organized religion gets a bad, but too-often deserved, reputation, Elliott explores secular literature as a means for soul-searching. As a seasoned professor, she shares why these particular books mattered to herself and her students over the years, and how each text offers a contemplative, scholarly, humorous, and philosophical path toward the true nature of God and the relevance of faith. Her doctoral research delves into the value of pedagogical practices which leave much-needed room for critical thinking and self-reflection, and her book—scholarly but personally—addresses how students and her readers, who are laden with social media and a Western educational system which has long outlived its purpose, have found literature to be relevant and transformational. As a tenured literature professor, her book addresses the need for particular stories that have helped generations of readers navigate their relevancy as human beings and their faith in a post-industrial, and self-interested world.

Intended Audience:
Young Adults, Adults

What inspired you to write this book?
My years of teaching literature with amazing, thoughtful students…

How does your work as an author connect to your role at Fellowship?
It’s a great example of my teaching practices and how I integrate a Biblical worldview into literature and our discussions.

Thank you, Dr. Elliott, for sharing your work with the world!
