The House of the Children Academy is a non-profit, state licensed learning center utilizing the Montesssori philosophy. The Montessori Method is a child-centered, alternative educational method based on the child developing theories originated by Italian educator Maria Montessori. This method is characterized by emphasizing self-directed activities on the part of the child and clinical observation on the part of the teacher.

Ages 3 years to 4 years
Students in the primary program work on:
• Practical life activities to develop the care of self and the environment
• Sensorial activities to develop skills in ordering, classifying, and expression of color, size, and weight
• Math activities with concrete materials to gain understanding of number, sequence and symbols
• Language activities to develop skills in writing and reading through the linking of sounds and symbols
• Geography, science, music and art using cultural materials
The Toddler Program
Ages 18 months to 3 years
In this program, the child will develop:
• His ability to concentrate and to be patient
• His ability to be independent
• His skills of self-control
• His emerging social skills
The Infant Program
Ages 6 weeks to 18 months
The infant program incorporates:
• Language Development
• Song/Rhyme
• Music
• Exercise/Stimulation
• Gross and fine motor skills

Accepting applications Ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age
The Academy offers three programs:
Infant - 6 weeks to 18 months
Toddler – 18 months to 3 years
Primary – 3 years to 5 years .
The Academy is open year round from 7:15am – 6:00pm, Monday through Friday
