I am thrilled to offer Visual Art classes to 5th–12th grade students in Northwest Arkansas who are homeschooled or enrolled in an e-learning program. I am now accepting applications for the Spring Session. Classes will begin on January 12 and run through May 15.
I am an approved vendor through the Education Freedom Act, and all fees are fully reimbursable using EFA funds. I hold a current Arkansas teacher’s license for K–12 Visual Arts; however, I have learned that teaching older students is where I do my best work. These courses will fulfill middle school and high school fine arts credit requirements.
I hope to inspire young people to be wildly curious about art and to learn how to create art themselves in a way that makes them proud. I have an enormous passion for art, and I believe it is my calling to teach it to young people. I am committed to creating a positive and supportive atmosphere for all types of learners, and I welcome both beginners and advanced students.
I plan to run my classroom much as I would in a public school setting, using the Arkansas State Standards for Visual Arts as my roadmap. Lessons will be differentiated based on the needs and strengths of my students—sometimes even within the same class—and I am experienced in making any necessary modifications. My philosophy is to help children grow into the best, happiest, and most successful versions of themselves for the benefit of humanity as a whole. I strive to create lessons that spark curiosity, fuel creativity, build confidence, and strengthen critical thinking skills. I will be including field trips, as well as mini lessons in Art History, and a showcase at the end of the session. Supplies will include those needed for drawing, painting, collage making, and sculptural materials. A computer is helpful, but not required. (Detailed supply lists to come for each session.)
Class sizes will be limited to about five students per class. The rate is $35 per hour and is fully reimbursable through the Education Freedom Account via ClassWallet. Please feel free to reach out for more information or to request an enrollment form. I’m also happy to chat on the phone or over coffee.
