The First R Foundation First R sends volunteer readers into kindergarten and first-grade classrooms to read and donate books

First R's volunteer readers visit kindergarten and first-grade classrooms on Cape Ann from October to June. After reading the book aloud, the reader gives the book to the classroom as a gift from the Foundation and its sponsors. To date, we have given the classrooms and students over 10,000 new books.

Calling all future kindergarteners! Join us for Gloucester’s Countdown to Kindergarten next Thursday night from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Gloucester City Hall. There will be backpacks, t-shirts and other great from the event’s wonderful sponsors, for children and . Don’t miss out on this fun celebration as we get ready for school!
