This is a long post but worth the read!
Seventeen years ago, I picked up a camera and discovered a passion that would change my life forever.
In 2009, I began working as a photographer at the Sears Portrait Studio. I loved getting to know families, making children laugh, and capturing moments they would treasure for years to come. Photography quickly became more than just a job—it became something I truly loved.
When I found out the studio was closing, I wasn't sure what came next. But one person never doubted me—my husband.
He believed in me before I believed in myself. He encouraged me to take a chance, trust my talent, and start my own photography business. Because of his faith in me, Froggie Photography was born in February 2012.
For the next eight years, I had the privilege of capturing some of life's biggest milestones. I photographed newborns, children, families, maternity sessions, engagements, seniors, weddings, anniversaries, and so many moments that can never be recreated. There is something so special about freezing a moment in time that families can look back on years later. Knowing I was a small part of those memories has always been one of the greatest blessings of my life.
Then, in 2020, my life changed forever.
I lost my husband to cancer.
Losing him meant losing the person who first believed in me. He was the reason I found the courage to start my own business. Every time I picked up my camera, I thought of him. Photography, which once brought me so much happiness, became a painful reminder of everything I had lost. I slowly put my camera away because my heart just wasn't in it anymore.
For years, I wondered if I would ever find my way back.
But I've realized something...
He didn't encourage me to follow my dream so I could give it up. He believed in me because he knew how much joy photography brought into my life. I know, without a doubt, that he would want me to keep doing what I love.
So here I am.
Trying again.
Finding my way back to the passion that started 17 years ago.
I'm nervous. I'm excited. And honestly, I'm a little scared. So much has changed over the years, and there are so many incredibly talented photographers in our area. But I've learned that every photographer brings something different, and what I bring is my heart, my experience, and my genuine love for capturing the moments that matter most.
If you're looking for family portraits, maternity, engagement photos, senior portraits, couples, children, or seasonal sessions, I would truly be honored to capture your memories.
If I've photographed you or your family in the past, I'd love it if you shared one of your favorite photos or memories from our session in the comments. Seeing those moments again would mean more to me than you know.
And if you're not looking for a photographer right now, I have one small favor to ask. Please consider sharing this post. You never know who might be looking for someone to capture a special chapter in their life.
To everyone who has supported me over the years—whether you knew me from Sears Portrait Studio, trusted me with your family's memories through Froggie Photography, or are just now getting to know me—thank you.
This isn't just about starting a business again.
It's about honoring the man who believed in me before anyone else did.
It's about rediscovering a piece of myself that I thought I'd lost.
And it's about creating beautiful memories for families once again.
I can't wait to see where this new chapter takes me.
With love,
Candice
