Hey y’all! 👋🏿
If anyone knows of any RPS teens that are looking to get more involved in the district, I highly encourage them to apply for this. This is the perfect opportunity for our young leaders to learn how to advocate for themselves and to become engaged in the district’s decision making process. Please spread the word! 💯
APPLY NOW: Applications are available now for RPS 205 high school students to serve on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) for the 2022-2023 school year. Application deadline is May 1, 2022.
The council is made up of students from each RPS 205 high school. Students meet regularly with a goal of encouraging goodwill, leadership and unity among RPS 205 students and the district.
Students focus on positive aspects of RPS 205, increasing community service within the district, and improving collaboration with the schools, administration and community.

Hey y’all! 👋🏿
Starting tomorrow RPS 205 will be hosting sessions regarding the Code of Conduct and it is EXTREMELY important that the community is in attendance, especially students.
The Code of Conduct determines how our students are being disciplined and it is in need of some major changes because these consequences have the ability to affect our youth for the rest of their lives. This system is clearly flawed and the only way we are going to see any improvements is by making our presence known and bringing solutions to the table.
Please help spread the word and I hope to see our parents and community leaders show up for this. 💯💪🏿❤️

Hey Y’all 👋🏿
Tomorrow evening Auburn High School (Rockford, Illinois) will be hosting an event that will finally let the public have an opinion on the decision-making process that has been taking place at the school and it is very vital that the community prioritize attending this to ensure that we are taking an active role in finding solutions for the many issues that we know exist at AHS.
For all of the parents and community members that want to get more involved, you need to be at this meeting. For all of the students who want your voices to be heard, you need to be at this meeting. For the staff that are tired of your concerns falling on deaf ears, you need to be at this meeting.
Please help spread the word and I hope to see you there. 🙏🏿

Hey y’all Hey!!!
During my campaign, I had the pleasure of meeting so many parents and families who wanted to share their RPS experiences with me and now it’s time that the rest of administration hears your stories too. It’s no secret that your needs are not being fully met and the only way we will truly be able to serve you, is if you provide us with insight on what you need. I am not only here to listen, but to put REAL action steps in place and I would love to see our families in attendance.
We only have a limited amount of seats available for this first session, but if you’re interested in participating please inbox me. Also if you cannot attend this one, I will be sure to follow up with info regarding future focus group meetings. It’s time to start physically showing up more for our youth and I’m looking forward to working with you. 💪🏿 💯

Allow me reintroduce myself, my name is Kamrin Muhammad, RPS 205 school board member. 🙌🏿 This past Tuesday I had the honor of being sworn in and your girl has officially taken her seat now. School board meetings are every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, we also have Committee of the Whole meetings on the 1st Tuesdays, and I hope to see more faces from our community in attendance. Or you can tune in on YouTube so you can stay abreast of what is taking place in our district.
Change is not going to magically take place in our city, it’s going to take a lot of hard work to dismantle these systems that have been failing us, and it’s time that we start identifying the different ways that we can start showing up for ourselves. Our babies need to see actions taking place on their behalf and we need ALL hands on deck in order to truly set them up for success. I hope y’all are ready to join in on this fight with me and I’ll see you in the trenches. ✊🏿❤️

Hey Everybody 👋🏿
The results are finally in and your girl has been declared the newest member of the RPS 205 school board. This experience has been surreal and I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to serve. But it has also been a very bittersweet moment, considering the many tragedies that continuously keep taking place locally and throughout our country. Thankfully I was able to take a brief moment to celebrate with my family on Election night and now that I’m officially elected, it’s time to get to work and start putting words into action. 💪🏿💯
To everyone that voted for me, knocked on doors, made phone calls, donated, shared my platform, prayed for me, and had my back in any way....thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Also huge shout out to the Northwestern Illinois Building and Construction Trades, AFSCME Council 31, Rockford United Labor, and State Representative Maurice West. Thank you all for your endorsements and for supporting my desire to bring change to our community. I will not take this victory for granted and as long as I’m in this seat, I promise that I will fight for a better education system for our youth. 🙏🏿 ❤️
Your humble servant,
Kamrin

There’s no other way to say it: RPS 205 needs to change! Our kids and grandkids don’t deserve chronically low graduation rates, and schools that are failing them academically. They do deserve a high quality education, and they need it RIGHT NOW. The best way to get our school district on track is to focus on parent involvement, creating an environment for success, and working with community partners to get extra resources for students. I am committed to these ideas, and to ensuring that RPS 205 is investing in our students first. I hope that I earn your vote today. The polls are open until 7pm!

DEADLINE TODAY: Contact your school’s main office staff by the end of the day today if you’d like to switch your student from remote-only to in-person instruction starting April 19. Schools will connect with families after today’s deadline about available space and staff to make the switch.

With less than two weeks left in the election I could use one last financial push to get me over the finish line. Will you consider making a donation today of any dollar amount to help me win this election?
You are investing in the future leadership of this city. Someone who cares about your children and will make decisions that keep their best interests at the forefront. You are investing in someone that cares deeply for this community and will continually work towards achieving equitable outcomes for all students.

Hey y’all! 👋🏿 With it just being one month shy of our General Election, it is time to start identifying who we feel are the best candidates to represent our community and gain a better understanding of why we should be “pulling up” to the polls on April 6th. Next week Eliminate Racism 815 will be hosting a virtual meeting to introduce the RPS 205 subdistrict C candidates and I will be talking about my platform here. I am so appreciative of this opportunity and excited to share my vision with you all.
I would love for my supporters to attend, especially the Northwest residents of Rockford who can vote for me. I will be sharing this event via Facebook live on my campaign page and people can attend via Zoom as well. If you would like the Zoom information, inbox me and provide your email information. Please come learn more about me and why I am the best candidate for this position. Looking forward to connecting with you on Wednesday! 😊

Good morning Rockford!
The day has finally arrived. Our primary election is currently taking place and I HIGHLY encourage everyone to exercise their vote today. It is no secret that our City has a lot of issues that we need to rectify and quite a few residents feel that there is no point in voting due to the inequitable systems that constantly overlook us. I used to share this same sentiment until I started seeing people challenge the status quo and this helped me understand the importance of taking our power back. Things will always be the same if we do not speak up and we have to start holding our elected officials accountable to their positions.

Our community deserves to have leaders in place that are going to be the voice of the people and advocate on their behalf. We all have a unique way in which we can contribute to seeing change in Rockford and voting is one of them. There’s nothing wrong with pointing out the problems that we see in Rockford, but let’s start making sure that we are finding solutions too. Please check out the different poll locations that you can visit and make sure you get there before 7pm today. It literally only takes 5 minutes. It doesn’t matter if you go before work, on your lunch break, or after you get off....JUST GO!!! 🗳

Thank you soooo much to all of my volunteers and people that stopped by to donate. Also shoutout to Virgil Hobson and Stefan Miller, Antwon AG Boyce Hudson Kirsten Jaree Gabrielle Torina, and Russ Johannson (Specialty Screw Corporation) for helping with the logistics and bringing my vision to life. I will be following up with a proper “thank you” to everyone soon! 🙏🏿 ❤️

Hey ya'll Hey! 👋🏿
My name is Kamrin Muhammad and I want to be the next board member of the Rockford Public School district. I am a native of Rockford IL and I currently live with my 15-year-old son, in subdistrict C which includes the following schools: Welsh, West View, Conklin, and West. For the last 10 years I have established a career in youth development and I am affectionately known as “Ms. Kam” to the families that I work with.
📚
I strive to bring a sense of belonging and connection, between our Northwest families and RPS 205. There needs to be more community engagement from the Board of Education, parent participation, and diversity throughout the district. My goal is to help eliminate the gaps in these areas. Also we need to explore more options to properly support students and staff during this pandemic, and work more with community partners that provide direct youth services.
🏫
When elected I will bring relevant experience, a fresh perspective, creative problem solving skills, and representation to the board that is long overdue. To learn more about me and my values, please follow my various social media accounts and visit my website (link in bio). I have a lot of fun and informative updates in store for you! 🗳
