New game this week. It's like Chutes and Ladders but with aliens and music notes. It's been a big hit so far! 🙂

I'm doing a flashcard challenge leading up to our spring recital. My students have 6 weeks to play 6 flashcards. Some of my students have played way more flashcards and I think I'll get them a special prize. Everyone who finishes 6 flashcards for me will get a little reward at the recital.

Doing this type of challenge really motivates my younger students so I try to do it twice a year.

Last weekend the Rochester Piano Teachers Guild welcomed composer Catherine Rollin for a day of recitals. About 125 students played her music on five recitals, and teachers got to enjoy a presentation by Rollin as well.

This is my son with Ms. Rollin. I also had 9 students perform on the recitals. It was a great day!

This week's game is thanks to I've been using her games since long before she charged money for them 😅

I was really sad to see she passed away last year, but thankfully her daughter took over and the legacy continues 🎉 and all the old games are still on the website so I can buy it when I can't find the instructions.

We start working on rhythm right away and I love teaching the basic notes with playdough. This rhythm is "kangaroo." This works with ages 3+ they just need to be able to make a ball and a snake out of playdough

We had a great time marching with the Towpath Volunteer Fife and Drum Corps in Shortsville last night. William held the banner and Char walked the whole parade waving her little flag.

The kids most especially love the parades when they end at a carnival.

This weekend my son got to play for a living composer, Melody Bober, in a big recital and then take a picture with her. This was a day-long event with five recitals and a talk for local piano teachers. I also had 7 students from my studio perform. All the parents really loved it!

Took the kids to their first ever full length musical this afternoon. They had a great time 😊 Will was riveted the whole time. Char wiggled around like a normal 3yo and burst into dance when she knew a song 😍

Theatre was full of kids. If you don't really like the hum of little kids , this is not the musical for you.

My favorite character was Sven.
