University of Rochester Cinema Group URCG shows free movies every week in Hoyt Auditorium. Our weekly meetings are open to all (Sundays at 2pm in Wilson Commons 122).

COVID Update: Weekly meetings now via Zoom, register though CCC. Movies will be shown outside until further notice. UR Cinema Group has been a staple of the University of Rochester's community since 1970. The club's purpose is to publicly show movies from many genres varying from blockbusters to independent films, providing the campus with a positive and entertaining movie-going experience. We show our primary programming on Friday and/or Saturday evenings and also have free alternative programs (films which are co-sponsored with other campus organizations) on pre-scheduled weeknights. Outside of our film programming, we further seek to provide a fun and fulfilling environment for our members through weekly meetings to discuss film and other goings on, off-campus screenings, and social events such as our annual Oscar party. Meetings are held every Sunday at 2PM in Wilson Commons 122. Students are welcome to join at anytime; members can earn free tickets to Premiere events, full size movie posters and more.

Here is the semester poster for Fall 2020! Unfortunately there will be no physical copy of the poster to hang at your dorm room, however remember to follow us on social media to stay up to date on our showings. The Drive-in movie over Yellowjacket weekend was a success so we are hoping to bring more of those over this semester

The Knives Out drive-in movie was a hit! Thanks for working with us to make it happen, and we hope to do more drive-ins!

The Knives Out drive-in movie was a hit! Thanks for working with us to make it happen, and we hope to do more drive-ins!

Our first-ever drive-in movie night was one of the highlights of a Yellowjacket Weekend like no other, including a virtual activities fair that saw more than 6,000 visits to student organizations online and a personal virtual concert from Jason Derulo with five physically distanced watch parties. Strong work, everyone!
