This week, we were delighted to have Bruce Neswick in town! We spent our Colloquium together learning about approaches to hymn reharmonization and performance. We look forward to having him back soon!

This week's Tuesday Pipes features Hans Davidson. Professor Davidsson is Artistic Director of the Göteborg International Organ Academy and Music
Director at the church of Älvsborg in Göteborg. The program today features two works by Mendelssohn. Admission is free!

Join us on Thursday, April 16 at 7 pm for our Third Thursday Concert: Music for Organ and Harpsichord with Eastman School of Music and Hans and Ulrika Davidsson, organ and harpsichord!

On the third Thursday of each month, from October through May, the Eastman School of Music and the Memorial Art Gallery present varied concert programs by faculty and guest artists featuring Eastman’s Italian Baroque Organ. These Third Thursday Concerts are included with museum admission after 5:00 pm and are made possible by the Rippey Endowed Trust.

All concerts begin at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early, as seating is limited and available on a first-come basis.

Congratulations to Matt and Yuhe!!!! We are so proud of you!!

The results are in! Congratulations to the three exceptional finalists who competed at the 2026 Arthur Poister Organ Competition at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Syracuse tonight. First prize went to Matthew Luca, DMA student of Nathan Laube at the Eastman School of Music; second prize went to Yuhe Su, DMA student of David Higgs at the Eastman School of Music; and third prize and the Will O. Headlee Audience Prize went to Henry Dangerfield, high school student of Catherine Rodland. Thank you to our distinguished judges: Christopher Houlihan, Damin Spritzer, and Todd Wilson. It was a great night of impressive playing!

As we get closer to the next academic year, we are proud to announce the dates for our 2026 EROI Festival! This upcoming festival, we will be diving into one of history's greatest pedagogues: Johann Sebastian Bach. More info to follow soon!

On Monday, we were honored to have Laurence Libin, emeritus curator of musical instruments at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and editor-in-chief of the Grove Dictionary of Musical Instruments, give a talk on "What it Means to Be an Organ." This talk was a part of our “Organist as Scholar” series endowed by Prof. Emerita Kerala Snyder and her husband Richard Snyder. It was a tremendous evening, and we hope to have Mr. Libin back to speak with us again!

This week's Tuesday Pipes features Professor Martin Schmeding, the Professor of Organ and Artistic Director of the European Organ
Academy at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre. The program today features works by Bach, Distler, Mendelssohn and Reger. Admission is free, not an event to be missed!
