We are having this workshop at The Equal Rights Heritage Center.
Saturday June 11th from 1pm -3pm
Please join me in this lovely event where we discuss the Middle East through art and the William Seward travel there!

In this workshop, led by artist Nada Odeh, participants will learn about the cultures experienced during William Seward’s visit to the Middle East and Syria. There will be a brief presentation followed by fun hands-on art experiences. In addition to creating art, participants will also brainstorm ideas with Nada for a mural that reflects Middle Eastern cultures in Upstate NY. All artistic materials and supplies will be provided for free!

This workshop is made possible by a grant from NYSCA in collaboration with New York folklore society that was presented to artist Nada Odeh.

What a fabulous workshop 😍

Yesterday I had the pleasure of conducting an art workshop with educational materials and resources about Arabic calligraphy. The workshop was hosted by Muslim Students Association in Syracuse University. The students were fabulous and were eager to learn the origins and history of Arabic calligraphy. I presented to them samples of my artwork and some work of Islamic architecture and early Muslim artists. In addition to the contemporary calligraphy artists today. We had a group of students visiting as well from Colgate University.. I am happy with the artwork that students did! Thanks to the Muslim Chaplin Amir Duric at Hendricks chapel for hosting us!

Yesterday I had a blast sharing my culture and language with participants. I introduced them to the art of Arabic calligraphy and vegetal arts. Participants in the workshop enjoying trying to create Arabic calligraphy in the workshop .. and were engaged a lot in it 😍❤️

Lesson today was the strong woman, artist, and activist. I asked the girls to create an artwork inspired by her paintings, the most interesting one was Frida with a mask .. recreating history

I can’t describe my joy when I saw the girls at YWCA Syracuse & Onondaga County creating their own the freedom they felt breaking all traditional images they had and create a more liberating images inspired by Jean Michele Basquiat 💞💞
