Ms. Coller introduced a delicious way for 4th and 5th grades to learn about the phases of the moon today. 🌜

Students explored how the moon appears to change throughout the month and then used Oreo cookies to create each lunar phase-from new moon all the way to the full moon. Hands on learning (and cookies) helped bring science to life today!

Last week we beat the heat but staying inside as much as possible. Instead of spending time outdoors during the hottest part of the afternoon, our younger students gathered inside to enjoy story time with some very special guest readers... our older students! Each volunteer chose a favorite book to share, creating meaningful connections across grades while helping younger learners strengthen their listening and literacy skills.

There is something special about seeing older students step into leadership roles and younger students light up as they listen to a story read just for them. Moments like these remind us that learning happens everywhere but it happens best in a caring community where we learning from one another.

At Life Skills Academy, we believe that strong communities support one another. ❤️

Thanks to the generosity of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, we now have a food pantry available for families participating in our program. Just like a Little Free Library, families are welcome to take what they need and, if they are able, leave extra nonperishable items for others.

We also offer weekend snack packs and dinner kits for families who may need a little extra support. If there is a need, simply reach out to a teacher or Ms. Schaeffer. If you would like to donate, please call the school office at 540-685-2605.

Every family faces challenges from time to time, and we're grateful to be part of a community that cares for one another.
