Learning Through Play

Today, the Virginia Western Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program partnered with the Radford University Carilion Occupational Therapy Program to host its first-ever Play Lab for children ages 3–5.

The Play Lab provided a unique opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience by applying classroom knowledge in a real-world setting while supporting children through engaging, play-based activities.

Beyond student learning, the event created a welcoming space for children and families to explore and connect.

Thank you to the students, faculty, families, and community partners who helped make this experience a success. We look forward to hosting another Play Lab for children ages 6–8 in the future!

Last week, our Student Ambassadors participated in a hands-on professional development session with the Hall Associates Career Center, gaining valuable insights into career readiness, workplace professionalism, and strategies for future success.

The Hall Associates Career Center provides a full range of comprehensive career services for both students and alumni, offering personalized support through career advising and coaching, career assessments, resume development, interview preparation, job and internship search assistance, and employer connections.

Whether in person or online, Career Center specialists are available to help students confidently navigate their academic and professional journeys.
