The Top 6 os a clinching drill we work at True Love Muay Thai and is a staple in our sessions. 6 clinching techniques to help you counter, time and off balance your opponent. Work them from both sides. Strikes are always a solid follow up from any one of these techniques once your opponent is off balance and their posture is broken. Once you get comfortable with the footwork and mechanics of these six techniques, there are plenty of variations You can start playing with from there. Once comfortable you should be flowing through all 6 of these techniques at a time while your partner is giving some resistance but still letting you work then switching. 🙏

All the technical stuff is great, but a lot of times…..especially for me, lol it just came down to keeping your hands up, keeping your chin down and trying to move forward with continuous shots. All of the strikes thrown probably won’t land, and they’re not necessarily supposed to, but a high pressure, high volume combo moving forward will put your opponent on their back leg, and at the very least push them into the ropes and then we clinch the f**k out of them lol

Six days before your fight….. what’s your pre-fight training week look like for you? When I was fighting, I always liked a lot of heavy pad work the week before the fight and I was always around good people so I like some really light sparring, nothing that was gonna get me hurt but just keep my mind sharp. What do you like to do?
