In a Sikh family, the mother is often like the trunk of a tree — steady, nurturing, resilient, and deeply rooted in Gurmat.
The roots are Guru Sahib’s teachings. The trunk is the mother who carries those teachings into daily life.
The branches are the children and family and the fruit is seva, simran, compassion, discipline, humility, and Chardi Kala.
A Sikh mother plants the seeds of:
ਸੇਵਾ (Seva) — serving others before self
ਸਿਮਰਨ (Simran) — remembering Waheguru
ਨਿਮਰਤਾ (Humility)
ਚੜਦੀ ਕਲਾ (Optimism and resilience)
ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ (Discipline)
ਦਇਆ (Compassion)
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ (Connection to Gurbani)
Like the trunk of a tree:
She absorbs the storms first
She provides stability
She nourishes every branch equally
And even when unseen, she is carrying the entire structure
Today we honor Sikh mothers, not just for raising families,
but for raising generations rooted in Sikhi.
Happy Mothers Day 🙏🏼🙏🏼
