Challenging Borders
Organizers:
Jennifer R. Nájera, Associate Professor, Department of Ethnic Studies (P.I.)
The “Challenging Borders” symposium will bring together academics, students, and community members to critically discuss current and emerging research about undocumented students in higher education. It will generate discourse about the varied experiences of undocumented students in four-year colleges and universities, the impact of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and ever-evolving
For those of you who were able to attend Dr. Laura Soltis's keynote, you know the challenges that undocumented students in Georgia face as they try to attain a college education. Please support Freedom U. Georgia's tour of schools outside of the state where students are delivering presentations and interviewing for admission. Any amount helps!
Another part of the immigration crisis: family detention
Thanks to all of you who attended the Challenging Borders symposium and made it a success. We appreciate your engagement throughout the day to offer support and to help further identify the needs of undocumented students in California and throughout the country.
