One of our partners, Marie, who is a school administrator in rural Haiti, was forced to close her school due to gang violence in the surrounding area. We encourage you to join us in our prayers for the community and their safety – with hopes that the school is able to reopen safely in the near future!

As of April 8, 2026, the government of Haiti, in partnership with UNICEF, has inaugurated two new schools in the Southern part of the country. This project represents UNICEF’s long-term efforts towards fighting civilian infrastructure damage as a result of natural disasters, and strengthening access to quality education for children in Haiti – as these will be their 18th and 19th school establishments within the country!

Attention community, May is Haitian Heritage Month! The Haitian Times has officially publicized its annual Haitian Heritage Month calendar, offering events that bring celebrations and community gatherings across the Haitian Diaspora. The guide is designed as a simple resource for readers looking to take part in Haitian Heritage Month, whether by attending local events or joining virtual offerings.

We are so excited to share that three of our sponsored students in Port au Prince have received outstanding grades this term! As a reminder, the grading system in Haiti is based on a scale of 1-10; each of these girls scored very highly on this scale, and we could not be more proud! Thank you for your continued support to make these children’s educational journeys possible.

Breaking news: 19-year-old social media content creator Ariana Milagro Lafond, is representing Haiti at the “House of Challenge” in Lomé, Togo this year. This challenge aims to recognize youth leaders from different countries who have showcased innovative, scalable projects aimed at transforming their nations. Lafond has presented a program that focuses on addressing unemployment and food insecurity through vocational training and meal programs to Haitian communities.

We are incredibly happy to share that another one of our sponsored students, Yoodmaylie, also received a score of 9.17 out of 10 on the Haitian grading scale from 1-10. We are incredibly proud of our students' performance, and want to thank you all for supporting our journey to provide educational opportunities to underserved youth in Haiti!

We are so proud to announce that one of our sponsored students, Noodjie, is first in her class after the last grading period. In Haiti, grades are given on a scale of 1-10, and Noodjie is ecstatic to have received a 10 this period! Thanks to your support, we are able to sponsor the education of students in rural Haiti, and allow students like Noodjie to fulfill their educational dreams!
