Rules of Engagement
At Oregon City School District (OCSD), we believe in fostering a respectful, inclusive, and engaging online community that reflects our commitment to learning, collaboration, and belonging. We welcome open dialogue, diverse perspectives, and constructive conversations that support our mission of educating and empowering all students for success. To maintain a safe and positive

environment for all users, we ask that you follow these engagement guidelines when interacting with our social media pages:

Respectful Communication
We encourage thoughtful discussion and the sharing of ideas. However, posts or comments containing the following will be removed:
Language or content that is abusive, obscene, or inappropriate, including profanity, hate speech, or sexually explicit material. Discriminatory remarks based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other protected status. Personal attacks or derogatory comments about students, staff, or community members. Content that violates the privacy of individuals, including personal or confidential information. Comments should relate to the original post to foster meaningful discussion. Avoid repetitive comments. Posting the same message multiple times disrupts engagement and will be removed. Cite sources when sharing information. Misinformation or unverified claims may be removed to maintain accuracy. Monitoring & Response
Our page administrators regularly review comments and messages and will do their best to respond promptly or direct inquiries to the appropriate district leader(s). Messages are checked during normal OCSD operating hours. Responses may be delayed on weekends, holidays, and school breaks. Enforcement & Accountability
Users who repeatedly violate these guidelines may be restricted or banned from the page. OCSD reserves the right to remove any content at any time that does not align with our commitment to a respectful and positive online environment. Legal Disclaimer
OCSD makes every effort to ensure that its social media platforms serve their intended purpose: to inform, engage, and support our school community. However, third-party users may post content that does not reflect the district’s values or policies. When identified, inappropriate content will be removed as promptly as possible, subject to technical limitations of the platform. We appreciate your participation in creating a welcoming and productive online space for our students, families, staff, and community. Thank you for being part of OCSD!

This morning, we have had success in being able to call out and receive incoming calls. Due to the nature of this issue, we may lose access to incoming and outgoing calls periodically. However, at this time all phones are working. If you are unable to reach us, please continue to use ParentSquare or email to connect with your student's school.

We will continue to update you as we know more information or if our status changes. Thank you for your understanding!

A major fiber optic cable was severed between Parkrose and Troutdale along Sandy Boulevard, impacting numerous services and businesses throughout the Portland area.

The repair location requires coordination with Union Pacific Railroad due to its proximity to railway tracks. Crews must work with railroad staff to ensure the area is safe during repairs.

Due to the complex coordination required between service providers, railroad personnel, and other factors, all affected clients are experiencing delays in receiving updates.

One of the most joyful and rewarding parts of our 150th anniversary celebration was honoring 150 Community VIPs—individuals whose service and heart have shaped Oregon City. That experience reminded us just how powerful it is to pause and say: “You made a difference.”

Now, we’re inspired to continue that spirit of celebration by turning the spotlight inward—toward the amazing people who make a difference for students every single day.

At Oregon City School District, students are at the center of everything we do. From the classroom to the bus stop, the front office to the lunch line, every staff member plays a vital role in helping our students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

To celebrate the incredible individuals who make this happen every day, we’re excited to open nominations for the OCSD Staff Awards—a recognition program grounded in our district’s 2023–2027 Strategic Plan. These awards honor staff across all roles—certified and classified alike—who help bring our shared priorities to the student experience.

- Instructional Excellence
- Career & College Readiness
- Belonging & Well-Being
- Engaged Communities
- Safe & Engaging Learning Environments

We’re looking for nominations that highlight real impact—whether it’s a staff member who creates hands-on career learning opportunities, someone who lifts others through inclusive practices, or a quiet problem-solver who transforms how we support students.

🎉 Nominate a staff member who is making a difference by completing this form by Thursday, May 29.

💬 Want to help select the winners? You can also use the form to express interest in serving on the selection committee. Our award winners will be announced during our annual fall kick off before the start of the school year.

Missing just 2 days a month = 18+ days per year = a full month of lost learning!

💡 Many absences—whether excused or not—can add up and cause students to struggle academically.

📌 Tip: Try to schedule vacations, appointments, and travel outside of school hours whenever possible.
