Tonight, the Rio Hondo ISD Board of Trustees proudly recognized Mrs. Gloria Ahmu as the Rio Hondo Middle School Teacher of the Year for 2027. Mrs. Ahmu currently serves as the 8th Grade Social Studies teacher at RHMS and has made an incredible impact on the students and staff she works with each day.

RHMS Principal Mr. Moreno described Mrs. Ahmu as an educator with a true passion for teaching who is fully invested in ensuring the success of every student she serves. Her dedication, commitment, and genuine care for her students are evident both inside and outside the classroom.

This recognition is a true reflection of the difference Mrs. Ahmu makes in the lives of her students and the positive influence she has on the Rio Hondo Middle School community. Congratulations to this phenomenal teacher on a very well-deserved honor!

Tonight at the Rio Hondo ISD Board of Trustees Regular May Meeting, two outstanding Rio Hondo Middle School students had the honor of participating in the evening’s opening ceremonies.

Adam Trevino, a 6th grade student, proudly recited the pledges, while Miguel Dobbins Zatarain, 8th grader, delivered the invocation. Both students represented Rio Hondo Middle School with confidence, respect, and pride.

In recognition of their participation and leadership, each student received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Superintendent and the Rio Hondo ISD Board of Trustees. Congratulations to Adam and Miguel for doing an excellent job and representing their school and community so well!
