Today is World Down Syndrome Day 💙💛

Observed on 3/21 to represent the three copies of chromosome 21, today is about celebrating the lives, voices, and contributions of people with Down syndrome, while also advocating for equal rights, inclusion, and opportunity.

Around the world, many individuals with Down syndrome are still denied access to education, healthcare, employment, and the ability to make decisions about their own lives.

That’s why today matters.

We stand for inclusion, dignity, and making sure every voice is heard, not just today, but every day.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

Established in 1987, this month promotes awareness, inclusion, and understanding for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Approximately 5 million people in the U.S. live with developmental disabilities and many still face physical, social, and attitudinal barriers.

DD Waivers help make community living possible by providing access to home and community-based supports, healthcare, transportation, and other essential services.

At AFOM, inclusion is not seasonal; it’s everyday.
