Did you know that the International Wheelchair Symbol was designed in 1968 by a Danish student named Susanne Koefoed?

A Danish student, Susanne Koefoed, designed the International Wheelchair Symbol.

For every six accessible parking spaces, one van accessible space is required.

The striped lines next to the parking space is called the

Did you know that Braille was invented in 1824 by Louis Braille when he was just a 15-year-old? This revolutionary tactile system uses raised dots in a six-cell matrix to represent letters, numbers, punctuation, and even music, allowing blind people to read and write independently for the first time.

Using raised dots in a six-cell matrix, Braille represents letters, numbers, punctuation-even music. For the first time, blind people could read and write independently.

Fun Fact: Average Braille speed is 125 words per minute, but skilled readers hit 200 words per minute!

Did you know that the white cane as a symbol of safety began in 1921 when James Biggs painted his walking stick white to be more visible to traffic? This simple act sparked international movements that eventually led to the designation of October 15th as White Cane Safety Day.

UK artist James Biggs lost his sight. Threatened by traffic, Biggs painted his walking stick white to make himself more visible.

10 years later, France launched a national white stick movement, leading to a similar movement in the UK.

In 1931, the Lion's Club International began a national program promoting white canes.
1964, Congress signed into law authorizing October 15th of each year as "White Cane Safety Day.”
