History has been made! We are incredibly proud to announce that both the Wright Junior High and Dr. Thomas E Randle High School bands earned the prestigious Sweepstakes Award at this year’s UIL Concert & Sightreading Evaluation! 🏆🎶
For the second year in a row, our programs have achieved this honor—making us the ONLY team in Lamar CISD Performing & Visual Arts to accomplish this incredible feat! 🥇✨
This success is a direct result of the relentless hard work and dedication of our students and our phenomenal directors at Steenbergen Middle School, Wright Junior High, and Randle High School. 💎 Celebrating a Remarkable Season: Thomas Randle HS Diamond Winter Guard
Good Afternoon Randle Family,
I am thrilled to share and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of the Thomas Randle High School Diamond Winter Guard this season!
Following a highly successful marching band season, the program transitioned immediately into Winter Guard in November. Unlike UIL, Winter Guard classifications are based on performer skill level rather than school size, with judging becoming increasingly rigorous at each level.
📈 A Season of Unprecedented Growth
The team’s trajectory this year was nothing short of extraordinary, moving through three classifications in just two weeks:
• Scholastic Regional A: The season began here, but after earning a massive score of 92.28 at Turner HS in January, the team was immediately promoted.
• Scholastic AA: The team then competed at the WGI Houston Regional, advancing from a field of 30 guards to become a Finalist, placing 14th overall.
• Scholastic National A: This achievement led to a second promotion, placing them in a highly competitive national-level class.
🏆 Competition Highlights
Since their reclassification, the team has continued to excel across the circuit:
• 🥇 1st Place – TCGC Goose Creek Competition
• 🥉 3rd Place – TCGC Cypress Falls Competition
• WGI Austin Regional – A strong showing, placing 24th out of 42 guards in prelims.
Last Saturday, the team delivered their best performance of the season at the TCGC East Area Championships at Clear Creek HS. While they did not advance to the State Championships, the resilience and excellence they displayed embodied true Lion pride.
🎨 "A Deadly Obsession"
This year’s production explored the paparazzi’s fixation on Princess Diana. The show featured stunning, recognizable details including:
• Newspaper imagery and headlines.
• The iconic "Revenge Dress."
• Her signature sapphire and pearl necklace.
• The famous over-the-shoulder pose.
👏 Special Congratulations
Under the direction of Mr. Jesse Joseph, the Color Guard program continues to grow into one of the strongest 6th–12th grade programs in the Houston area. His dedication to design and student development has truly elevated this program to new heights.
