February was Kindness Month at CMS! 💙🐾
Our CMS Cougars focused on identifying acts of kindness to help erase hate and spread positivity. Students also created appreciation notes for all CMS staff members and painted Kindness Rocks with uplifting messages to hide around our neighborhoods and community.
If you find one, it’s a little reminder from a CMS Cougar to brighten your day! 💫

CMS Celebrated Read Across America Day on Thursday by participating in "Drop Everything and Read". Our students and staff lined the hallways with a book and read silently, well mostly silently, for 10 minutes! A couple of our 8th grade boys kicked off the event over the intercom:
“Drop Everything and Read”
Ayo, ayo, what’s that sound?
It’s a reading takeover going down! 📚
Freeze those pencils, stop that chatter —
This is one emergency that totally matters!
Drop everything — (no, not your chair!)
Just grab a book and head out there!
Line up proud in the hallway scene,
We’re about to get quiet… like a ninja team. 🥷
For ten whole minutes — yes, ten,
No talking, no whispering, not even “when?”
Just pages flipping, brains on fire,
Reading takes us higher and higher!
So grab that book, don’t delay —
It’s Drop Everything and Read Day!
Mic drop… quietly. 🎤

We are proud to recognize our Special Education Teaching Staff. They work so hard for every student, and we are beyond lucky to have them here at Carmichael Middle School.
Richland RISE Award Spotlight!☀️
Let’s celebrate the Carmichael Middle School Special Education team, Amy Hood, Jen White, Mykael Mannucci, Stephanie Sprueill, and Aaric Wren, as this week’s recipients of the RISE Award (Recognizing Innovation, Service, and Excellence)!
This team has redefined what Special Education looks like at CMS by creating consistent IEP practices and offering co-taught Math and ELA classes that give students greater access to grade-level learning and growth.
Their service extends beyond the classroom as well. For example, Stephanie Sprueill started the Crossing Guard Club to promote student safety, and Mykael Mannucci, in her role as Athletic Director, organizes events and builds extracurricular opportunities that give students meaningful ways to connect and learn outside the classroom.
Together, they embody excellence through positive, supportive learning environments and a shared belief that every student can succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally. Their teamwork and commitment make a lasting difference for students at Carmichael.
The RISE Award, sponsored by GESA, is presented weekly to honor RSD staff who exemplify innovation, service, and excellence in supporting our students, schools, and community.
👏 Congratulations to the CMS Special Education team, and thank you for the incredible impact you’re making every day!
