Nuria Gabitova is founder and executive director of iSchool for the Future, where she champions a global vision for education that balances head and heart by integrating STEAM and Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Here's why she wanted to be part of this special cohort:

Here’s a sneak peek behind the scenes of our flagship program Innovation Lab where young students don’t just think about global challenges, they design solutions.

At iSchool, we define Compassionate Innovation = STEM + Arts + Social Emotional Learning. Because the best solutions don't just work. They improve lives.

🌱 Greenhouse Kids Team self organized to design a 'smart greenhouse' solution to tackle deforestation and food insecurity. From brainstorming and sketching ideas to testing prototypes and presenting to a live audience, these young innovators brought Compassionate Innovation to life.

As part of their prep, they created note cards and practiced presenting.

This is what happens when students feel safe, trusted, and empowered to lead using empathy, collaboration, and creativity to solve problems with purpose.

EQ > IQ

Research shows that emotional intelligence (EQ) is often a stronger predictor of success than IQ.

A child might excel at calculus, speak multiple languages, and have top grades, but if they can’t manage emotions, resolve conflicts, handle stress, build healthy relationships, or drive their own learning… how far will those skills truly take them?

That’s why Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is not just “nice to have.” It’s the foundation for raising independent, self-driven lifelong learners who can thrive in any setting.

The next generation of builders is already here.

At the National STEM Festival VIP awards event, our founder, Nuria Gabi saw young innovators using STEM to solve real problems: health, culture, energy, aerospace, agriculture, and more.

But what stood out most was not only what they built.

It was who they were becoming as they built it.

Curious.
Resilient.
Collaborative.
Purposeful.
Human-centered.

That is in action.

That is why STEAM + SEL matters.

In the age of accelerated AI, young people need more than technical skills. They need durable human skills: empathy, self-awareness, collaboration, responsible decision-making, and the courage to lead with humanity.

And they cannot do it alone.

Educators, families, industry, government, funders, and communities must work together to build the ecosystem young people need to thrive.

That is how we grow together.
