I made a macaroni from scratch out of discarded sourdough starter.
I also made a cheesy garlic avocado sauce to go with my pasta.
It was Petit Steck approved!
My take: next time, I will make the dough when I make a pasta dish. The dough I used was in the fridge for days now. So the dough has a more sour after taste. Although it still good, it goes well with the ala avocado mac n cheese I made.

Teaching them young. Introducing hard work and giving JP the idea what his papa, our "gold digger", does for a living. Although Andreas' background is engineering and managing a pit mine, we want to show our son how it feels like to be in a 400 foot tunnel and what life was like in the most famous mining camp in the American West. Back then, miners endured grueling work conditions, being crammed in tight space, and manually digging, collecting and exploding rocks.
Chollar Mine in Virginia City is the only preserved and maintained underground mine in the U.S. This mining site was built in 1861(it was staked in 1850s), during the Gold Rush era, and the only one that withstood time and harsh weather. The tunnel was brilliantly engineered out of sturdy square set timber by William "Billy" Chollar.
John our tour guide also showed us the mysterious "blue clay", which turned out to be silver deposits -- yes there are still some silver ore in the area, but they are not worth the mine.
I had fun knowing a bit of science when they used candles and mice giving them warning of danger, and also I experienced the importance of wearing a hard hat since I solidly banged my head two times!!!
Virginia City is worth the visit! ⛏️👷♀️
Please visit! The fee from the tour helps maintain the site. This is not government funded, so we should support them by visiting the area!
P.S.
One of my good friends in media and bridesmaids, from the Philippines came to visit us in Reno, so we toured her around the city and it's nearby places. 🥰
The Filipino word "balot" has many contexts. It can be used as "wrap" or in parties, it means "take home".
In Filipino parties, it is customary that Filipinos take home leftovers or the host will send guests home with food or "baon" - a practice of Filipino hospitality.
This tradition is also an extension of Filipinos' desire to feed the people we love and care about.
Filipinos, being humorous, they evolve the word "balot" into a new colloquial word "Sharon", who is a Filipino artist and singer, known for her one of her popular songs where chorus starts like this: "Balutin mo ako" (you wrap me...), and since Filipinos are witty, the song became an anthem during the end of a get-together or when Filipinos are starting to bring out their tupperwares and scoop some food.
Also, when they don't allow takeouts, party host simply print the photo of the famous artist, Ms. Sharon Cuneta, on the buffet area advising guest that you are not allowed to "Sharon" (take-out/take-home) food.

My son is one of the recipients of her Dolly Parton Imagination Library, where they send a classic book monthly for free. This is her advocacy that all children find a love and a joy of reading.
I will pray for you Dolly Parton, and thank you for the monthly books. They are beautiful! My son enjoys reading all of them everyday. 💜

When asked what set Borealis Mining apart from other projects:
"I think what sets us apart from a lot of projects nearby in the Walker Lane trend is the fact that we're permitted to start mining, we have a functioning plant, actually we were pouring gold this year from the residual heap leach operation that have taken place, and we've taken a lot of the construction risk out of the project" -- Andreas Steckenborn
