This week 2 of our Leadership Trainees (LTs) Angeline & Edwin presented their summer research at the 2026 Summer Wolfpack Discoveries Research Symposium!!
They both received funding for their research through NV INBRE FLARE, which is funded through a grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences from the National Institutes of Health. With Angeline winning the Discovery Award for the Symposium. Congratulations to both of them and for representing CBESS!!

Summer 2026 was one for the books! ✨

This July, we welcomed 31 CBESS students for a week of academic research, college readiness, STEM exploration, bilingual leadership, and community building.

Our students made lasting connections, while building the skills and confidence to become the next generation of bilingual STEM leaders and researchers.

A huge THANK YOU to our campus and community partners for making this experience possible. We couldn’t have done it without you! 🙌🏽

We are so grateful for the opportunity to make an impact! ✨

This summer, our CBESS program hosted 31 high school students for our research program from July 5-24. The program combines residential campus experiences with virtual research preparation, giving students opportunities to build academic and research skills while connecting with university resources as they strengthen their bilingualism skills toward STEM and health pathways.

During the program, students spent one week staying in Argenta Hall and participated in STEM and health-related workshops, hands-on laboratory experiences and activities designed to support their career aspirations.

What an incredible thing to be a part of! Not only was Vania Carter-Strauss, who is a current CBESS Community of Practice (CoP) member, interactive, but she literally brought her DNP project to life! Inviting various programs on campus to be present and share information with Orvis School of Nursing faculty. It is so inspiring to see Vania’s efforts to enhance support for LatinX nursing students!
