Filler word examples in a sentence:

- Learning English is, well, fun!
- Um, I think I forgot my pencil.
- It’s, like, really cold today.
- So like, can we go to movies?
- Do you have a pen I can, you know, borrow?

Word families are a group of words with the same root. The words look similar and mean similar things. For example, the "friend" word family:

- friend: (n.) a person who you like, and they like you, too
- friendly: (adj.) a way to describe someone being nice like a friend
- friendship: (n.) the state of being a friend
- befriend: (v.) to become friends with someone

With word families, you can quickly build your vocabulary because the words have similar meanings!
