Due to forecasted weather conditions that may increase the risk of wildfires, PG&E has notified the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services that some areas of Humboldt County may experience a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) beginning the morning of Monday, September 30 through the afternoon on Tuesday, October 1.

Areas potentially impacted by this PSPS include:

• Bridgeville
• Blocksburg
• Alderpoint

Be prepared Humboldt! Please follow these preparedness tips in the event of a power outage:

• Keep your cell phones and devices fully charged prior to a power outage.
• Keep freezers and refrigerators closed.
• Use a generator, but ONLY outdoors and away from windows.
• Do not use a gas stove or oven to heat your home.
• Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges.
• Have alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or using power-dependent medical devices.
