Robert Filkin (he/him) of the Rock E Rumble team, explains some of his challenges in game development and his inspirations. Rock E Rumble, is a 3D platformer-beat’em up hybrid game currently in development by a collaboration of Game Gen game devs. A group of talented artists, developers, writers, and animators came together and created a game that is being sought after by publishers. In 1958 William Higinbotham and Robert Dvorak teamed up to liven up the Brookhaven National Laboratory with a game visitors could play. The game, Tennis for Two, is considered one of the earliest video games.
Because of those innovative beginnings Game Gen exists to help turn game players into game developers. Science started it all.

Meet Veronica, Game Gen Student and Commissioned Artist.
Veronica who is diagnosed with Autism and ADHD,started doing art in elementary school. At the age of 8 she remembers drawing a cocker spaniel that “everyone seemed to fall in love with”. In her early teens she started doing digital art and later graduated from Glendale Community College with 3 Associates Degrees in Animation.
After seeing other artists get commissions, Veronica was “heavily inspired and slightly jealous” so she began seeking commissions herself. Her quest was successful and now Veronica is a contract graphic designer. She’s collaborated with the podcast “Portents of Fear”and is very proud of her work.
