“You have broken eyeballs,” my mom often tells me and my sisters. This is her way of gently and humorously reminding us to change our perspective, to be kinder to ourselves, and to view things through the lens of TRUTH.

We can all be our own worst critics—I can for sure. Sometimes I need hardcore gospel truth to be spoken over me. Other times I just need the affirmation that I’m seen, I am loved, and I am valued. And if I need to hear it, chances are, someone else needs too, as well.

This tiny girl right here peeking through the bushes? She’s a big part of my “why.” I want her to grow up watching a mama who stewards her giftings well and uses them to encourage others, a mama who perseveres with grit and grace, refusing to give up on her dreams. I’m not going to sugar coat it—-consistently showing up here has been hard lately. Instagram is a tough nut to crack, and it can be difficult to keep things in perspective {almost as difficult as trying to snap a pic with this kid!😉}. However, I want to tell a different story. I want to show my girl that her worth far outweighs her following, and that cultivating friendships should be pursued over curating the perfect feed.🖤

To the ones who have dreaded this day, you are beloved more than you dare to imagine. To the ones whose hearts are mending, you are stronger than you know. To the ones who are weary of hoping, have courage. Your worth doesn’t lie in your relational status—-your value cannot even begin to be contained inside that tiny little box. Your significance lies in the person you choose to be {and let me tell you, she is LOVELY}. The best is yet to come, dear heart. Don’t be afraid to shine your light—the people around you need its radiant, glorious beams.✨

If you could peek into my studio right now, you would see these four chalkboards nestled underneath my work table, tucked safely away from little hands. There’s just something about these four. I can’t quite bring myself to gently erase away their dusty surfaces, each design a favorite story: the stirring promises found in Jeremiah 17 that a mother wanted to gift her children, a name sign for the nursery of a friend’s miracle baby boy, a Christmas design that made my heart sing, the word I chose for 2019...each design so different from the others, every one of them created with the very best I had to give... Perhaps some day I’ll say goodbye to these originals and welcome new favorite designs. For now, I’m going to keep reusing my other chalkboards as I gain inspiration from my four little personal reminders to pursue more of what sets my soul on fire. 🖤⠀
