📝It's the first day of school!! 🎒
A few friendly reminders:
🚸 Drive careful and watch for excited (or not-so excited) young ones getting to and from school
🚌 Buses make frequent stops and may be stopping at residence or places they haven't stopped at in the past. Leave extra space and watch for students entering, exiting and crossing the street.
🧐 Keep an eye out on everyone and help out if someone needs help. We all have good days and bad days, so let's stay small-town friendly and help out when we can - especially to our younger friends.

We are ready to stop our "Temporary Yard Waste Site" and go back to having everyone use our Regular Yard Waste Site now. Please make sure you are pulling into the correct driveway - after the white fence - and you see the "Readlyn Yard Waste" sign. Thank you!!

🍨Today (Sunday, August 9) is the Readlyn Historical Society Annual Ice Cream Social from 3-5PM at the Readlyn Museum (302 Main Street). Only a quarter - yes, that's correct - only twenty-five cents per bowl of ice cream!🍨

UPDATE: We are finished and Thank You to everyone who helped!

📢Calling all grown-ups! We need some adult volunteers to help clean up Readlyn City Park from fallen trees/branches. Crews are working now (10am, Saturday, 8/8/26) until finished. We are only asking for adults at this time, so we can keep our young safe and out of the way. Thank you in advance! 🌳

🌳Due to the large pile of trees/branches at the Readlyn Yard Waste site, please take your trees/branches to the empty lot where the New Emergency Services Building will be located (in the 200 block of West 1st Street). We will use this lot temporarily. Please keep piles away from the orange cones on the lot. Thank you for your all your help as we work to clean-up Readlyn! 🌳

10:55pm update: Power should now be restored to everyone in Readlyn. Thank you to EVERYONE who came out to help with clean-up efforts this evening.

10:30pm update: Power should be restored to almost every customer at this time, except for a handful. Crews are still working to get power restored to those customers. We would like to thank the Readlyn Fire Department, our neighboring utility companies and some of our citizens for helping out.

6:25pm update: The most recent report from Alliant Energy to get crews to and repair their main power line that is causing the outage in and around Readlyn is midnight tonight. After that, we will have to look over our lines and make sure they are operational and working properly.

4:55pm update: Due to multiple power lines and a power main down in the county, we are unsure how long we will be without power. We are anticipating it will be a while. Please plan accordingly. Please do NOT go near any down lines or wires. Thank you.

4:30pm: The city is aware that Readlyn is currently without power. We appreciate your patience as we work to restore electricity.

Help us with the Yard Waste Site by following these 3 easy tips!
#1) Make sure you are dropping things off in the correct location. Use the driveway past the white fence (and not the one before that area).
#2) Look for the "Readlyn Yard Waste" sign at the entrance of the driveway - then you know you are in the correct area.
#3) Follow the rules posted and drop off your yard waste in the proper piles.
