🚒🔥 Leadership in Action: Respect, Responsibility & Fire Safety!

October is all about respect at Portage Leadership Academy, and today our Pilots had the opportunity to learn from a special guest!

We were honored to welcome Mr. Adam George, Fire Inspector and Firefighter, as our October Leadership Speaker!

Mr. George thoughtfully designed an engaging presentation that connected our monthly leadership theme with the importance of fire safety. Through this unique approach, our Pilots explored how respect extends beyond the way we treat others. It also means respecting safety rules, understanding the responsibilities of first responders, and making thoughtful decisions that protect ourselves and those around us.

By combining his professional experience with meaningful lessons in character and leadership, Mr. George demonstrated how respect plays an essential role in both everyday life and public safety. His presentation provided our students with a valuable opportunity to see how the principles we practice in the classroom are reflected in the world around us.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. George for generously sharing his time, knowledge, and dedication with our students. His commitment to educating and inspiring our young leaders reflects the powerful impact community members can have in shaping the next generation.

✈️ At Portage Leadership Academy, we believe leadership begins with character, grows through experience, and shines through service to others!

✈️🌟 Celebrating Our Pilots and Captain of the Month! 🌟✈️

At Portage Leadership Academy, we believe that leadership begins with character, dedication, and a commitment to doing your best each and every day!

We are incredibly proud to recognize our Pilots of the Month and Captain of the Month! Each month, one outstanding student from each grade level is nominated for Pilot of the Month in recognition of their leadership, positive attitude, hard work, and contributions to our school community.

From these nominations, our administrative team carefully reviews each student's accomplishments and votes to select one student to receive the distinguished honor of Captain of the Month! This recognition celebrates a student who has gone above and beyond in demonstrating the values and qualities of a true leader.

Each of our recognized students serves as an example of what it means to lead with kindness, responsibility, and integrity. Their efforts remind us that leadership is not simply about standing out, but about lifting others up, making positive choices, and inspiring those around us.

Please join us in congratulating these exceptional young leaders on their well-deserved achievements! We are incredibly proud of each of them and look forward to watching them continue to grow, lead, and succeed.

💙✈️ Congratulations to our Pilots and Captain of the Month! Keep leading by example and soaring toward excellence!

🏀📚 Taking Our Best Shot at Test Prep!

Our Pilots switched things up with a game of Trashketball while preparing for their upcoming tests! They worked together to practice rounding, as well as reading and writing decimals, with each correct answer giving them a chance to score.

There were lots of smiles, teamwork, and friendly competition throughout the classroom! We love finding ways to make learning engaging while helping our students feel confident and ready to show what they know.

Way to work hard and have some fun along the way, Pilots! 💙 ✈️

It’s time to meet some Pilots! ✈️

This week, we’re getting to know four of the students who make PLA such a special place.

A little thank you goes a long way! ✈️💙

As we continue learning about responsibility this month, our Pilots took some time to recognize someone who helps take care of our school every single day, Ms. Hollie! 🧹✨

Our students wrote her their own special thank you notes to show just how much they appreciate everything she does for us. 💌

Learning responsibility is about more than completing our own tasks. It’s about taking care of our school, respecting the people around us, and recognizing the important role we each play in our school community.

We are so thankful for Ms. Hollie and all she does to keep our school clean, safe, and ready for learning! 💙

Keep it up, Pilots! Continue showing responsibility and leading by example every day! ✈️💙

🔵🟡🔴 We had a DOT-tastic day at PLA! 🟢🟣🟠

Today our Pilots celebrated International Dot Day, a day all about creativity, confidence, and discovering where one little idea can take you! ✈️

They read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, made their very own dot crowns 👑, and let their creativity shine by designing unique dots of their own. 🎨

Then they added a little math (and something sweet!) to the celebration! 🍫 Our students sorted, color-coded, and graphed M&M’s, turning a tasty treat into a hands-on lesson in counting, organizing, and comparing data.

From reading and art to math and creativity, our Pilots definitely made their mark today! 🔴🟡🔵

Happy International Dot Day! ✈️💙

🍎 Learning was extra sweet this week!

Some of our Pilots spent the week learning all about apples!

Using one familiar theme across different subjects helps students make connections between what they are learning and gives them opportunities to apply their skills in fun, meaningful ways.

Throughout the week, students explored, counted, created, wrote, and discovered through hands on activities that turned something as simple as an apple into a whole learning experience.

And after spending the week learning all about apples, there was only one way to wrap it up… eat them! 🍏🍎

We love seeing our Pilots curious, engaged, and excited about learning! ✈️💙
