Today is one of the happiest days of the year for me because it is my son, Tommy McCarthy‘s birthday!

When he was born on this day, 28 years ago, it was one of the happiest days of my life! I’m so proud of him and the amazing young man he has become. He’s got a creative spirit, and he loves to learn and get better and everything that he does. He always finds a way to win and help others win too. And the best thing about him is that he has a huge heart!

Happy birthday, Tommy! I love you!

We met in 1988 on Super Bowl Sunday at a friend’s castle in Del Mar. got it right about love. Over time you learn a way of loving that’s different from the neurotic love enshrined in movies. It’s warmer and has more padding to it. After several decades we have a braid of love, steel and trust that just gets stronger until it’s unbreakable.

In order to step into your greatness, you need to make the conscious decision to embrace growth situations.

Here are two easy ways you can embrace growth situations right now:

1. Do one thing a day or week that makes you uncomfortable.

Examples: public speaking, learning a new skill, anything that takes you out of your comfort zone

2. Create micro challenges for yourself throughout your day.

Examples: Give 5 compliments out to strangers, 5 minutes of breath work, 3 minute ice bath or cold shower

Remember: The more you embrace doubt and discomfort the more you are going to grow and step into your greatness!!
