Gladys Johnson and Adrienne Reaves hit it out of the park with the CCS AI Playground, providing Cumberland County Schools staff with protected time to build foundational AI literacy and proficiency within district-approved tools. By ditching the traditional "sit-and-get" for a dynamic, low-stakes FUN environment, theyโve ensured that educators can grow their skills in a way that is both sustainable and directly applicable to their daily practice.

In early April, the Office of Digital Learning and School Connectivity had the opportunity to co-teach with Mrs. Lindseyโs CTE classes at Southwest Guilford High School in Guilford County Schools.
Led by Regional Consultant Brian Whitson, students developed resume objective statements aligned to their individual skills and explored how generative AI can be used to enhance their writing through an iterative process. Throughout the lesson, students refined their statements while critically evaluating AI-generated suggestions to ensure their authentic voice remained intact.
Many students noted that this process strengthened their objective statements and deepened their understanding of the importance of maintaining a โhuman in the loopโ when using AI tools.
We are grateful to Mrs. Lindsey and Southwest Guilford High School for the opportunity to engage with such a thoughtful and diverse group of students.
