So excited for one out of newest hive hosts Sunrock Industries, big shout out to there team for 🐝-lieving in our mission and looking forward to the many bee adventures ahead!

Welcoming our newest 30,000 team members to the Butner Quarry! Sunrock is excited to partner with Buddha Bee Apiary and support local pollinators as we further our sustainability efforts. Local pollinators, such as native bees, fertilize over 75% of flowering plants and are essential to our ecosystem.

The team at Buddha Bee Apiary consists of professional beekeepers who are dedicated to furthering bee health, using regenerative practices to help bees thrive in the Triangle. Look for Sunrock’s very own bee colony the next time you visit our Butner facility!

Meet Keith Sabin β€” our newest Lead Beekeeper, and one of those rare people who makes you fall in love with this work all over again. 🐝

Keith brings something we don't take for granted: real passion, deep knowledge, and a gift for teaching. He has a special knack for lighting up the younger generation β€” turning a hive inspection into the kind of moment a kid remembers for years. In just a short time he's already made a big impact on our beekeeping program.

He's also, as you can see, locked in an ongoing battle with the beekeeper's oldest nemesis β€” the varroa mite. (Swipe to witness the struggle.) πŸ˜…

We can't wait to see what he has in store for the rest of 2026. Welcome to the team, Keith. 🍯

We got a little ink! 🐝 Midtown Magazine came out to Fenton, walked the apiary with us, and then did the hard-hitting investigative work of... tasting the beer those bees helped make.

If you haven't heard, our honey found its way into Hive β€” a honey saison brewed by our friends at Brewery Bhavana using honey straight from the colonies we manage on-site at Fenton. Local honey, local beer, local collaboration. The kind of thing that only happens when businesses realize the amazing community they have around them and start dreaming up ways to work together.

We're a tiny team of five with no marketing department (hi, it's just us over here), so a feature like this means the world. Huge thanks to Midtown, to Brewery Bhavana for letting our honey shine, and to Fenton for always saying "sure, what do you need?" when we pitch a slightly ridiculous idea.

Give it a read πŸ‘‡ and grab a pour of Hive while a few kegs are still kicking around.

It wasn't but 6 months ago I moved here to Charlotte to take on one of our biggest projects yet, grow to another city.

To do this successfully I knew we had to start building roots just like we did in the Triangle and we've got one of the first steps to doing that right here and were so excited to share it.

Friday, June 26 β€” Join us for a Honey Inspired Dinner at the Suffolk Punch SouthPark taproom. Six honey-forward courses built around real honey from real hives, paired with beer made by people we like who love their craft just like we do.

No flown-in ingredients. Craft, Passion and excitement. Two small Charlotte teams cooking, pouring, and telling stories for one night.

34 seats. Tickets close June 20 β€” link in our bio.

This was 2019. Our first hive. I had no business plan, a little experience, and no idea how hard it was going to get.

But I had her.

She believed in this before anyone else did. Before the first client. Before the first van. Before any of it made sense on paper. She just believed in me.

The stings, the setbacks, the 5am alarm clocks, the seasons that didn't go our way β€” she was there for all of it. Not because she had to be. Because that's who she is.

Today Buddha Bee has a team, a fleet, and hives across North Carolina. I get to wake up and do what I love every single day. And none of it would be possible without her by my side.

There are around 50,000 bees in a healthy hive. One of them is the queen.

She's longer than the workers, moves slower, and is always surrounded by bees facing toward her β€” that's the retinue. They feed her, groom her, and carry her pheromones through the entire colony.

Slide 1 has a hint β€” look for the blue dot. We mark our queens with paint so we can track their age without disturbing the hive. Blue = born in a year ending in 5 or 0.

Slide 2? The dot is still there. You're just going to have to work for it. πŸ‘€

Drop a πŸ‘‘ if you found her.
