🍦 What a SWEET day in Toddler 1 & Toddler 2!

Our book of the day was Pete the Cat: Screams for Ice Cream, and the children had so much fun bringing the story to life!

After reading, we got creative and made puff paint to design our own ice cream art pictures—so colorful and fun!

Some of our friends worked with Miss Justice on a counting activity, scooping “ice cream” to match numbers—great job practicing those counting skills!

To top off our day, we celebrated with a special ice cream party in the afternoon. So many smiles and happy faces!

We love learning through play and creating joyful memories together!

What the children learned:
• Early math skills: Counting, number recognition, and one-to-one correspondence during the ice cream scoop activity
• Language & literacy: Listening to the story, building vocabulary, and making connections to real-life experiences
• Creativity & fine motor skills: Using puff paint to create art helped strengthen hand muscles and encouraged self-expression
• Social-emotional skills: Sharing, taking turns, and enjoying a group celebration together at the ice cream party
• Sensory exploration: Engaging with textures (puff paint) and tastes (ice cream) supports sensory development

Today’s storytime featured the fun and engaging book Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons! We took our learning outside and turned it into a hands-on activity ☀️

The children took turns picking number cards, practicing number recognition and counting. They counted circles to match their number and then added the correct number of “buttons” to Pete the Cat’s jacket.

Through this activity, we were building:
🔢 Early math skills (number identification & counting)
🧠 One-to-one correspondence
🎯 Fine motor skills
🤝 Turn-taking and cooperation

Learning through play makes it even more meaningful and fun! 💙
