Before she taught at IDYL, she led in the community. From creating Pittsboro’s first flag football league for children who couldn’t afford to play to nurturing confidence in her 1st grade scholars every day. This is what leadership looks like. Black history isn’t only remembered here — it walks our hallways, leads our classrooms, and inspires our future. Her great-grandmother was born into freedom — but carried the memory of a time when reading was forbidden. That legacy became a mission.
