Both are legal in NC for lawful gun owners, but they come with very different advantages, disadvantages, and responsibilities.

✅ Visible presence may deter threats
✅ Faster access to your firearm
✅ No concealment needed

⚠️ Potential Drawbacks:
• Can attract unwanted attention
• May cause discomfort or alarm in public spaces
• Makes you identifiable as armed
• Some businesses or locations may prohibit it

🫥 CONCEALED CARRY
✅ More discreet and less attention-grabbing
✅ Preserves the element of surprise
✅ Often more socially accepted in public settings

⚠️ Potential Drawbacks:
• Requires proper concealment methods
• Slower access without training
• Printing or accidental exposure can become an issue
• Requires a permit in NC to legally conceal carry

We are so proud of the six individuals who participated in this week's Introduction to Handguns 2 course. This follow-up to our introductory course is 100% hands-on, with an emphasis on handgun mechanics, manipulation, and marksmanship. After dedicating over one hour to guided dry fire, participants tested their ability to "drive the gun" on the range by completing the NC DOJ course of fire for concealed carry certification. The targets speak for themselves.

Shooting is so much more than pointing and pressing a trigger. Understanding the tool, building confidence around its function, and learning to manage the behavior make a huge difference on the range!

REVOLVER vs. SEMI-AUTOMATIC…

Both can be excellent defensive tools, but they operate very differently and serve different needs, preferences, and experience levels.

🔄 REVOLVER
✅ Simple manual of operation
✅ Extremely reliable
✅ Easy to visually confirm loaded/unloaded status
✅ Often preferred by those wanting simplicity

⚠️ Potential Drawbacks:
• Lower ammunition capacity
• Slower reloads
• Heavier trigger on many models
• Recoil can feel sharper in smaller revolvers

⚡ SEMI-AUTOMATIC
✅ Higher ammunition capacity
✅ Faster reloads
✅ Generally easier trigger press
✅ Wider variety of sizes, optics, and accessories

⚠️ Potential Drawbacks:
• More mechanical manipulation required
• Malfunctions require training to clear
• Can feel intimidating for newer shooters
• Requires understanding of magazines, slides, and controls
