Hi all, We are looking for alumni to volunteer to be a member of our interview committee for the 2022 Borchardt Award. The 2022 Global Teachers program will travel to the Victoria Falls Region. As a past program participant, you know the value of the program and reward for you and your students – and you are best qualified to identify applicants who will be great participants on the Victoria Falls Region program! We are currently in need of two interviewers.
Interviews will be held February 19th and 26th and ideally you would be in attendance both days from approximately 8:30am-4:00pm. We will provide you with lunch - delivered to your door - both days.
Once again this year, we are conducting interviews virtually so you don't necessarily need to be in the Triangle area although past Borchardt award recipients are particularly encouraged to participate.
Please let me know (PM or comment below) if you are able to help!
Thanks very much!

What is Sketchnoting? Sketchnoting is visual notetaking which helps enhance deeper learning and increases retention. In this workshop we will specifically be focusing on visual notetaking for a global classroom. Learn how to facilitate sketchnoting in your classroom for your students!
What if I am not good drawing? Sketchnoting is about ideas, not art! Sketchnoting uses basic shapes that everyone can draw. Everyone can draw a circle, square or triangle etc. Therefore, everyone can sketchnote!
Who is Lorraine Kasyan? Lorraine Kasyan has been teaching sketchnoting to educators, administrators, and students at the local and state level since 2015. A featured presenter at regional workshops and non-profit organizations. Lorraine has inspired educators of all levels to join the tribe and Doodle to Learn. Lorraine is the founder of Peacedoodle, promoting peace, on doodle at a time. Lorraine has a master’s degree in Instructional Technology and is a former teacher of English in Buncombe County and participated on the Global Teachers-India 2013 program.

Hi All, If you are a STEM teacher who might be willing to help out another NC teacher with her dissertation research, please see the below message. (If you have any trouble connecting via the link in Michelle's post, let me know and I will connect you to her directly)
My name is Michelle Ellis, and I am a PhD candidate at Texas Tech University in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. I am conducting a research study on the global competence of North Carolina STEM teachers. For this study, I am looking for educators who fit all the following criteria: 1) full-time teacher in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics as the predominant focus or where all areas are integrated (ie integrated STEM), 2) a STEM teacher that embeds global education in their classroom, and 3) a K-12 teacher educating students in North Carolina. If you are interested in participating, please click HERE (https://bit.ly/2UTaEzh). Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Good Afternoon Global Teacher Alumni,
I am writing to share an exciting professional development opportunity for Go Global program alumni and their guests. In June, Go Global NC will take educators to Peru. This program will experience cultural and historic sites in the capital city of Lima, explore ancient Incan cities, and engage in authentic local traditions, including farming and weaving. You will be immersed among the people to learn about the culture, history, food, environment, and landscape of Peru.
Not only is this program a wonderful opportunity to explore an incredible part of the world, but it will also increase your ability to develop global-ready students in your classroom. Furthermore, this alumni experience allows you to bring guests so friends or family members can share this international opportunity with you.
This program will take place June 18th 2020-June 29th 2020 and is a self-pay program. Spots on the program are first come first serve and a nonrefundable deposit will be due upon registration.
Contact Meredith Henderson, Senior Director of Programs, at [email protected] for more information or to request an application.
As always Go Global NC will be available to you at any time to answer your questions and help you out along the way.
