Yesterday we celebrated the retirement of Dr. Jean Goodwin!

Dr. Goodwin joined the Department in 2016 as part of the Leadership in Public Science cluster. In 2017 she was named SAS Institute Distinguished Professor. She is leaving a legacy in the Department of Communication, playing a pivotal role in creating the minor in science communication, having served on many graduate student committees, creating the Great Speakers & Speeches course, and mentoring many of her colleagues! At yesterday’s Department of Communication Graduation Ceremony, they announced the Graduating Seniors’ selection of Kalyca Becktel as recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award. 🏆 This photo beautifully captures the emotions Dr. Becktel was feeling as she accepted it.
