Hey guys, it's been a while. Some of you have been reaching out, wondering how I am doing, or if I am still making cakes. The short answer is yes, I'm still here and I'm still baking.
The long answer is that it's has been one heck of a year for my husband and I. One that I am grateful for the love and support that so many of you have shared with us. About a month before my last post (Nov, 2020) we found out we were expecting - yay! Then came the exhaustion that is the first trimester as well as the excitement surrounding our first pregnancy. Fast forward to April when we lost our little one around 20 weeks. We were (and still are at times) devastated that someone we already loved so much was gone from us. As you can imagine, posting and keeping up on social media wasn't really something that seemed important during this time.
And now here we are, almost a year since that last post. Overall he and I are doing better and I am so thankful for you guys allowing me to be a part of your birthdays, weddings, and other family events this past year. Baking is something that I truly love doing and being able to share that with you guys has helped me feel a little more like me. THANK YOU 💕
Now on to this cake!
🎂: The bottom tier is a vanilla cake and the top is a chocolate cake. Both are gluten-free and are frosted with vanilla buttercream using one of my favorite combs from
💐: Done by me! I love putting fresh florals on a cake and these ones matched the brides bouquet.

New flavor combo coming at you! The idea for this almond joy cake came from my mom and I was so glad she suggested adding coconut to the mix. The plan was always dark chocolate cake and almond buttercream frosting but the flakey shredded coconut adds great texture and taste!

Friends! If you have yet to try the Pumpkin Biscoff cake recipe from , you must stop what you are doing and bake it asap! It has moist pumpkin cake layers on top of a Biscoff cookie crust and then is frosted with the most drool-worthy Biscoff buttercream. Seriously, this is one of my favorite flavor combos to date!

It's day and this months theme is ombre. This orange cutie was a perfect way to be on theme while hinting at the flavors underneath. After taking the first picture I decided that it needed a little sprinkle of nuts on top - swipe to see! 🎂: Spiced carrot cake with walnuts baked throughout, decorated with an almond cream cheese frosting.
It's been a while since I have been able to participate in this collab and I am excited to be a part of it this month. The group is so supportive and TALENTED so be sure to check out the hashtag to see all of the beautiful creations today. As always, a big thank you to for being a great host!

When a friend that you haven't seen in almost nine months requests German Chocolate Cake, you try making it! This spin on my normal dark chocolate cake is frosted with a rich chocolate buttercream and layered with a caramelized coconut and pecan filling. I've never tried making this flavor before so fingers crossed that he likes it!

Well it's been a while friends! School has started back up and the exhaustion is REAL. So, in an effort to settle some of my anxiety, I made time to bake this week. Working on a cake allows me a few moments to focus on something that is in my control. Spend time on yourself friends - it's so important and you're worth it!
🎂: Cinnamon cake layers with dulce de leche filling and cinnamon vanilla buttercream. Peep the cinnamon flecks in the second photo 😍

Cake doesn't have to be complicated. Simple designs that reflect the flavors inside is definitely a key component to my style. Sometimes when I am struggling to be creative, I just go back to what I know and trust about my skills.
🎂: Pistachio cake covered in almond buttercream and topped with chopped pistachios and almonds.

This was a tough one to part with. Layers of dark chocolate goodness partnered with salty-sweet peanut butter frosting. Such a classic flavor combination that is always a crowd favorite!

Sprinkle stripes: simple concept, incredibly hard to execute. Today is the collab and I LOVE this medley ("Sidewalk Chalk"). This blend is grey, black, and white, all mixed with a variety of happy and bright colors. Thanks to .bakes for hosting and be sure to check out the awesome ways other bakers have decided to use this sprinkle mix today!
