π Congratulations to Professor Richard Kim on winning the 2026 O. Max Gardner Award. The award is the highest honor the UNC Systemβs Board of Governors confers on faculty.
Kim is recognized for his contributions to improving roadway infrastructure around the world. His performance modeling and test method innovations extend the life of highways, reduce costs, decrease environmental impacts, increase safety and improve the daily lives of millions.

Groups participated in a variety of designing and building competitions, ranging from concrete canoes, 3D-printed bridges, two-story wood light-framed buildings and more. π·ββοΈ

We are so proud of our graduate students who participated in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition this week! π
Each participant had just three minutes and one static visual slide to explain their research, and its significance to society. π
