In fall 2025, eight community colleges — Alamance Community College, Cape Fear Community College, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, Central Piedmont Community College, Cleveland Community College, Forsyth Tech, Johnston Community College, and Wake Technical Community College — launched Boost.
Each college in the program aimed to enroll 150 students in the first year of Boost, except for the Caldwell and Cleveland consortium, which aimed to enroll a combined 200 students.

[NEWS] With weeks left in a career that started in a Guilford County classroom and ended at the head of North Carolina’s 58-college community college system, President Jeff Cox on Friday was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the state’s highest civilian honor. 👏
“It is not given lightly,” West said in presenting the award. “It is given to those whose work has left North Carolina measurably stronger than they found it.”

Great news from Martin Community College! 👏 Its 2026 commencement last week was its largest graduating class ever.
“Our graduates reflect the diversity of eastern North Carolina and beyond, and their success strengthens our workforce, our families, and our communities,” said Dr. Tabitha Miller, president of the college. “Each number is a dream unfolding, hope renewed, a life changing event that spreads from the individual to their families and communities.”
