And we're back! After a two month hiatus (thanks, Facebook...), we're back with our new(ish) name and some scholarship tips!

What are some common mistakes that students make when preparing scholarship essays? Students tend to avoid talking about themselves, focusing on negative stories (and not talking about the lessons learned), and ignoring the prompts. Those are three easy ways to get your essay thrown out!

It’s scholarship season, which means it’s time for our annual reminder on what to watch out for and how to avoid scholarship scams. When applying for scholarships, look for:

✅ local opportunities
✅ contact information for questions or concerns
✅ whether this is a recognized(or verifiable) organization
✅ essay or writing prompt requirements

❌Reminder: you should NEVER pay for a scholarship. If someone asks for an application fee, a deposit, or a funding fee, run far far far away!
