Please keep Mr. Hickam’s family and our Bobcat community in your thoughts:
Dear Families,
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved math teacher, Mr. Cecil Hickam.
Mr. Hickam was a valued and deeply cared-for member of our school community. His dedication to his students, his colleagues, and Radford High School made a lasting impact on so many. His presence in our school will be greatly missed, and we know this loss will be felt deeply by both students and staff.
We recognize that everyone processes grief and loss differently. Our school counselors and staff will be available to support students as they process this difficult news. We encourage students to reach out to a trusted adult at school if they need support. There is extra counseling support on site today in our library. If you have concerns about how your child is coping or believe they may need additional support, please do not hesitate to contact us.
This loss is especially close to our school community, as Mr. Hickam’s wife, Mrs. Hickam, is also a valued member of our staff. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Mrs. Hickam, their family, Mr. Hickam’s students and colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. We ask that you please keep the Hickam family in your thoughts and respect their privacy as they navigate the difficult days ahead.
As information becomes available, we will share details regarding memorial services and opportunities for our school community to come together to honor and remember Mr. Hickam. Thank you for keeping the Hickam family and our entire school community in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
Sincerely,
Adam Simpson
Principal
