Ever notice this little metal bracket on top of the camera? Most people just call it a mount, but its real name is a Hot Shoe. 📸

It’s called “Hot” because it’s actually wired up to the camera’s brain. See those little silver pins and that circle in the middle? Those tell a flash exactly when to fire. ⚡️

But honestly? I use mine interchangeably as a Cold Shoe all the time.

That just means I’m using it as a seat to hold gear that doesn’t need to “talk” to the camera—like my iPhone bracket for BTS, a mic, or a little LED light. It’s just hitching a ride so I don’t have to juggle everything! ❄️

You’ll also see people bolt a metal cage onto their camera. Those have extra brackets all over them that look just like this one—those are usually Cold Shoes, too. They’re just extra spots to clip on whatever you need to build out your rig.
