We recently co-sponsored the Round Hill Home Town Festival...lots of great music, food and entertainment. We were proud to be a participant in this fun day..
We are pleased to announce the recent awarding of two grants. A $2,000.00 grant was awarded to the Loudoun Valley High School Music Parents Association. The award will be used to help pay necessary band fees for those students who need assistance. Secondly, a $1,000 award was granted to a local music student that excels in guitar and will be used toward future guitar and voice training lessons. Each time we are able to present an award, it is very heartwarming and is a tribute to Peter's love of music. No matter how large or small an award is, every recipient is so appreciative. Please visit our website at "petedurandmusicforeveryone.org" to learn more about future grants.
We are excited to announce a new grant opportunity just for Loudoun County residents aged 15-20 to attend the 2022 Berklee College of Muisc 1 week Guitar Camp including board!

We love updates from our grant recipients Thank you Ken Cooper and Washington High Scool for sharing this article and taking such great care of the Steinway!
The Friends of Music have donated a piano cover to Washington High School in Jefferson County.
The school's Choral Director, Ken Cooper, asked the Friends to provide the cover to protect a grand piano that was given to the school in 2019. The instrument is used by the school's choir.
The piano is a 1921 Steinway Model M. It was a gift from the Pete Durand Music for Everyone Foundation, of Bluemont, VA. It is used by the school choir. Mr. Cooper said the piano cover, which is custom-made and fully padded and quilted, will help protect this very valuable, classic instrument from dents, scratches, dust, and temperature changes.
The accompanying photo shows Mr. Cooper, left with some of his choir students and the piano in its new cover.
The piano cover is valued at $348. It is part of a Friends' grant program to support music education in Jefferson and Berkeley county schools. The grants typically involve instruments and music supplies not covered by regular school budgets. The Friends also provide scholarships to talented local students who are pursuing degrees in music. This school year, due to Covid restrictions, grant items are being delivered directly to the schools rather than presented in person by Friends of Music board members.
The Friends of Music organization is a Shepherdstown-based, non-profit group founded in 1999 to support and promote musical excellence. It supports the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra, the only professional classical music orchestra in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, and one of only three such orchestras in the state. Full information about the Friends is available at www.friendswv.org.
The Foundation is accepting applications for grants once again. Check out our website at "petedurandmusicforeveryone.com" to learn more about the application process and the grants we offer. Please pass along to anyone who might be deserving of a Pete Durand Music for Everyone grant.
Congratulations to Katie Bryant from Madison, Alabama for receiving a $4850 grant from the Pete Durand Music For Everyone Foundation. Katie is using the funds to purchase a saxophone, oboe, guitar, violin and trombone for music instruction. Katie travels to rural schools in Alabama with limited music resources and provides music instruction to students who may be struggling. She also provides individual instruction to students that may not be excelling in a large ensemble setting. Katie's commitment to help children pursue their passion for music is a great match with the vision and goals of the foundation.
Pete loved vintage amps and one of his favorites was the Laney Klipp. He truly enjoyed sharing his passion for vintage amps with others and recording them in his studio. Pete's foundation is here to help you get the music gear you need to pursue your musical interests.
"Music is the greatest gift someone can give" Pete Durand, 2011. Pete started playing guitar when he was 6 yrs old and from that day on, music was his life. Pete's foundation is here to help you bring music to yours!
We are proud to announce that the Pete Durand Music for Everyone Foundation has awarded a 1921 Steinway M Grand Piano, valued at over $13,000, to the Washington High School (WHS) Music Program, Charlestown WV.

This award to WHS followed a lengthy process that included sending letters of interest along with applications to numerous area schools. Washington High School stood out among all of the applicants, detailing how the piano would be used and cared for ...and treasured for years to come.

This piano has special meaning to the Foundation because it was used by Pete in his M80 Recording Studio. He loved the piano and played it often. It is reassuring to us that this piano has a new home where many young people can experience its beautiful sound, and it will be treasured for years to come by so many.

A great article recently appeared in the Blue Ridge Leader & Loudoun Today about Grant Frazier, local musician and friend of Pete Durand. The article "Loudoun Native Launching Himself Into the Music World" highlighted Grant's musical career and his plans for the future. Grant's first album, "Runaway" was released in 2016 and was recorded at M80 Recording Studio. He is quoted in the article saying "he is really going after, not fame, but the joy in exploring his musical talents and what can be found in that beautiful life to come." Grant starts production this summer on his second album. His music can be found at "GrantFrazierMusic.com and on iTunes and Spotify.

This beautiful thank you letter was sent to us from Nicole Fetterman, our most recent grant recipient. Nicole wanted us to know exactly how the check she received had been spent and also to let us know how grateful she is for the Foundation's support. We wish Nicole great success in all of her music endeavors.

06/01/2019

It gave us great pleasure to award our latest grant of $1,000 to Nicole Fetterman of Leesburg, VA. Nicole is a freshman Music Performance Major and Honors College student at George Mason University. She is a classical guitarist and began playing at the age of nine.

Our board was so impressed with Nicole's application. She has won numerous classical guitar competitions, including the John & Susie Beatty Music Scholarship Competition in Washington, D.C. where she won first prize and the composer's prize. Nicole has been a member of several performing ensembles, both in and outside of school; and has participated in community service work by performing at assisted living centers, nursing homes, public libraries, etc.

Nicole applied for a grant of $1,000 to assist her in purchasing professional sound equipment to help increase the quality of her performances and recordings as she advances in her music performance studies in college.

Nicole's musical path reminds us so much of Peter's love of music in every aspect of his life. Music is in the soul of so many young people, and our foundation feels so fortunate that we are able to provide grants to assist in their musical goals.

04/12/2019

Last evening we attended the Washington High School's Spring Concert in Jefferson County, West VA. Our Board was invited to attend the concert in recognition of our recent donation to their music department . The concert was fabulous...we loved every minute of it. There were performances by the Percussion Ensemble, the Jazz Band and the Jazz Ensemble. The level of musical talent in these three bands was amazing. It is very heartwarming knowing that the Foundation, in a small way, helped to support the talents of so many young people.

No words can describe how happy we are to be able to help this fine young man pursue his passion for music. This is what it's all about about, folks.

This is Pete's dream. His passion. His mission. His life's work. Pay it forward. Love each other, and most importantly, LOVE YOURSELF! No one can be YOU better than YOU!

Thank you so much, Veronike Collazo for helping us spread the word, & thank you SO MUCH to all of our donors who have made this grant possible.
