Our very own Mr. Speakman!!
For today’s Tag-A-Neighbor Tuesday, we are highlighting Kevin Speakman, better known as Mr. Speakman!
Mr. Speakman is a native of Ponca City and a graduate of the University of Arkansas, earning his BSE in 1993. He began his career as the sole band director in Seneca, Missouri. From there, he taught middle school bands in Shawnee, Stillwater, Sapulpa, Plano, TX, and Skiatook before coming to Pryor in 2013.
Speakman served as the OkMEA All-State Band Committee Chair for 2001–2002, served as the executive secretary for the North Central Band Directors Association, served as President of the Northeastern Band Directors Association, and has been on the faculty of the University of Arkansas Summer Music Camp for 26 years.
Speakman’s dedication to the Oklahoma band community as well as the students right here in Pryor is something that should never go unnoticed.
From early morning practices all week to late nights traveling back from away games, turning right around to head out for a 14+ hour day at a band competition is no easy feat—and Mr. Speakman is always leading with a smile.
