This Memorial Day, take time to reflect on those who gave their lives for the good of our country. The monuments around us—new and old—help us remember the sacrifice of those who came before.

How will you observe this Memorial Day?

From the speech “Remember” by Steven E. Snow, given on April 23, 2015.

We are saddened by the passing of Mary Ellen Edmunds, whose joyful humor and Christlike love blessed generations.

Through her influential work at the Missionary Training Center and inspiring words at BYU, she reminded those around her that goodness and discipleship could be filled with joy and laughter. We at BYU Speeches are grateful for her life, her faith, and the warmth she shared so freely to everyone around her.
